Close all doors and windows during testing.
Closeness to walls can degrade receiver sensitivity.
Do not hold the CompuSync Receiver during testing, as this can artificially improve the sensitivity of the receiver Do not use an analog clock to determine if a location will be adequate for signal reception. The receiver in a clock is more sensitive than the receiver in the CompuSync Receiver and therefore, the CompuSync Receiver may not work in locations where a clock works.
The CompuSync Receiver should be located at least 3 ft. from electromagnetic noise sources such as transmitting antennas.
If the exact location is not known, be sure to test the CompuSync Receiver in several locations. If a signal is not received at a particular location, note this for future reference.
Attach the rubber antenna to the CompuSync Receiver.
Determine a location for the CompuSync Receiver and test at the location.
-
Mount the CompuSync Receiver in its final location.
Note
The antenna must be vertical when mounted.
Connect the 9V, 500mA power supply to the CompuSync Receiver first, then into the wall.
Verify that the green LED is flashing once per second.
-
Plug cable from the CompuSync Receiver into the computer's serial port.
The cable has a female DB9 connector at the end and plugs into an available serial port (usually named COM1 or COM2) on the computer.
Note the number of the COM port that the data cable is connected to.
