View the current state and state history of a Transmitter

From the profile of a Transmitter, you can view its current state and state history. OneVue stores all state changes, allowing you to view its historical operating conditions. This information is helpful when troubleshooting its operation.

View current state of a Transmitter

  1. Go to Devices > Transmitters.

  2. From the list, select the Name link of the Transmitter. Its profile is displayed.

    Its profile displays its current state and status. When in a Warning or Alarm state, its status indicates the reason.

    Status resulting in State

    Normal

    Device is operating as expected.

    Its status will be blank during this state.

    It may also display Return to Normal if its last state was Warning or Alarm.

    Warning

    Device is not operating as expected and may warrant corrective action.

    Any of the conditions below result in a Warning state.

    • Time Sync Failure: Transmitter failed to receive a valid time signal from its time source (GPS or NTP). Verify the Transmitter time source connection. For NTP use, verify its Ethernet connection and NTP Server settings. An external NTP Server requires network port 123 to be open.

    • Bad Output Power: Transmitter is not transmitting at the appropriate power level.

    • PLL Diagnostics: Transmitter having trouble locking onto a channel and cannot broadcast time or events.

    • VSWR Errors: Transmitter antenna error from either the antenna position or cabling.

    • No GPS in 48 Hours: Transmitter has not received time from its time source for more than 48 hours.

    • No PPS in 48 Hours: Transmitter time has not been synchronized by 1PPS (1 pulse per second) for more than 48 hours.

    • GPS Cable Break: Transmitter has detected an error with the GPS connection; either due to a line break, water ingress, or the cable length is greater than 200 ft. (60.9 m).

    Alarm

    Device is not operating as expected and corrective action is required.

    Either of the conditions below result in an Alarm state.

    • Transmitter has remained in a Warning state for longer than its Alarm Delay setting. By default, set to 30 minutes.

    • Unresponsive (OneVue configuration only): the last time the Transmitter checked-in to OneVue has exceeded the time set in its Unresponsive Timeout setting. Commonly due to a failed network connection or loss of power.

    • Critical Error: Transmitter has NEVER established a valid time signal and is using its internal Real Time Clock (RTC). Transmitter does not transmit a time signal to the system devices when this Error state. During first-time configuration, it can take up to 10 minutes for the Transmitter to connect to its time source and receive a valid time signal.

    Suspended

    OneVue does not generate alerts when in a Suspensed state.

    The Suspended state is designed for use during a temporary condition, such as when a device is being repaired or during troubleshooting.

    OneVue continues to update the status of the device, but it remains in a Suspended state until a system user changes its state to Normal.

    Decommissioned

    State that is to be used when the device is no longer in use or operational.

    During this state, its operating condition data is not logged, stored, or monitored.

    The Decommissioned state is designed to permanently disable a device from your OneVue account, such as when it has been disposed of.

    All historical data is retained for reporting purposes.

View the state history of a Transmitter

  1. Go to Devices > Transmitters.

  2. From the list, select the Name link of the Transmitter. The Transmitter profile is displayed.

  3. From the State History, select View.

  4. Set the date range to include.

    Go To Start Date: When selected, sets the Start Date to the date the Transmitter was added to OneVue.

    Backward 1 Week: when selected, sets the start date back seven days.

    Start Date: select the start date of the date range to display.

    End Date: select the end date of the date range to display.

    Forward 1 Week: when selected, sets the start date forward seven days.

The state history for the date range specified is displayed.

Column

Definition

Change Date/Time

Date and time the state change occurred, either by the system or from a state change completed by a user.

State

The state the device was set to at the specific change date/time.

Reason

Status that resulted in the state change or the system generated status.

If the state change was completed by a user, the reason entered by the user is displayed.

User

If a state change was completed by a user, the name of the user that made the change is displayed.
